What CourtAhead can and cannot do

What CourtAhead is designed to do

CourtAhead helps people representing themselves organize a legal case and understand the record in front of them. It can:

• preserve uploaded original files and organize them into a case structure;
• propose people, dates, events, and open questions for your review;
• connect important case items to the document, message, or court record that supports them;
• keep uncertainty and missing context visible; and
• show a next action or a specific fact to check when the available record supports one.

What CourtAhead does not do

• CourtAhead does not provide legal advice or create an attorney-client relationship.
• CourtAhead does not replace the official court record.
• CourtAhead does not predict a judge, ruling, settlement, or case outcome.
• CourtAhead does not determine whether another person is telling the truth.
• CourtAhead does not treat a date pulled from a document as a verified deadline without the event that starts the clock, the supporting record, the applicable rule, and review.
• CourtAhead does not silently file, serve, sign, or send a consequential legal document for you.

When to check an official record

Check the court or another official record when you need to verify a current hearing date, filing acceptance, case status, signed order, local procedure, or official form. A CourtAhead link helps you inspect the records in your workspace; it does not make the workspace the court’s official file.

When to get human help

Contact a qualified attorney, legal-aid provider, or court self-help center when consequences are severe, the law is unclear, or you need advice tailored to your case. Contact the court directly to verify time-sensitive calendar or filing information.
